“Soles for Souls”

The weekend of January 22, 2011, the Respect Life Committee, along with the Knights of Columbus from St. Remy’s, launched “Soles for Souls.” A display of 137 shoes or “soles” representing 137 unborn babies killed in America by abortion each hour was placed in St. Remy Church in a small casket. The idea for this display came from another display seen by two St. Remy parishioners at a church in Indiana. This traveling display had over 4,000 baby shoes representing the 4,000 babies killed by abortion in America each day. Seeing that many shoes piled up and realizing that each shoe represented a baby’s life that was snuffed out each day was overwhelming! From this display came our smaller display, an idea that was in progress for many months. We thank all the individuals who helped in any way to make the “Soles for Souls” display a reality. Many local people donated time and materials, asking for nothing in return. May God use the gifts of all who helped to open hearts and minds to His Truth. The St. Remy “Soles for Souls” project is going to be a traveling display. It has already been at the Vigil for Life in Sidney and at the Right to Life March in Washington, D.C. The Respect Life Committee is making the display available to churches and organizations who want to use the display to educate and inform people. This representation of the 137 unborn babies killed each hour is a sad reflection of our country, and the “Soles for Souls” display is a visible reminder of this hourly holocaust. The primary goal of “Soles for Souls” is to change the hearts of:

• Women who may be contemplating abortion

• Men who may be encouraging women to have an abortion

• Women who may have been misled and are now struggling after having an abortion, so that they know there is hope and forgiveness through Jesus Christ

• People of all ages so that there will be a greater respect for life We ask for prayers for all who will view this display in the future, that Jesus, through the intercession of His Blessed Mother, will soften hearts to come to view all life, from conception until natural death, as the precious gift from God that it is.
